RSVP time

The invitations are out and the responses are pouring in!

So far we have 35 confirmed guests with no regrets, which is extremely exciting. I'm so glad to see that all of you are as excited as we are, I promise the food is amazing, our DJ is fun, and the ceremony will be short and sweet.

19 of you want the salmon, which I find amusing because it was both Mike and my personal favorite. I guess I've sold it well to the friends and family.

There has been one minor setback to this happy time, and that was seeing several of the invitations come back to us "return to sender." We did our best to get current addresses, and the basic list was one that we used for Kathleen's wedding, so I thought it was semi-up-to-date. But mistakes happen and there was either some mis-translations or just plain wrong addresses.

So Kim and John, your invite is in the mail to you (for the second time) and I hope you receive it soon.
And Uncle Dan and Aunt Jan Rooney, I've been advised to leave yours at Grandma's because Dan stops by there every week, so I will do that.

Jessica and Eric, Mike will send yours out to you again.

And Janice, you know the postman just hates me, because they sent it back with your sister's forwarding address. I don't know why that one wasn't delivered, it's some kind of curse.

So four mis-addressed envelopes have come back, and hopefully that's the end of them. Please, if anyone is upset or feels hurt that they appear to be uninvited you may call me personally. I was the holder of the address book and it would be my fault if we had something incorrect. Neither my mother nor my father were involved in the address fiasco, so if you feel you would like to talk to someone--I'm your man.

Again, we are sorry and embarrassed to see these invitations fail to get where they need to go, and we're doing everything we can to get them to you correctly. With some patience everything will turn out just fine.

It's really coming along

I feel like the past two weeks have been full of planning.

We've met with our florist and photographer, finalized the cake design with the bakery, and this past Sunday we had a great tasting at the Black Rock.

The food is absolutely great, you will all be pleased with the choices. We are going to have the ceremony begin at 3:30 that day, followed by a cocktail hour between 4 and 5 with passed hors d'oeuvres and then the reception will begin at 5.

The food will be a salad course of a caprese salad; stuffed chicken with rosemary potatoes, pearl onions and a pea medley or salmon and scallops with celeriac mashed potatoes and asparagus; followed by the cake. We have a layer of chocolate cake with chocolate filling and a layer or almond cake with raspberry filling. Everything is amazing, hopefully everyone will find something they like. Vegetarians and other dietary needs are covered, just note your preference on the response card and the caterers will gladly prepare a dish for you. They have assured us that it is no problem and I'm sure those dishes will be just as good as what we tasted on Sunday.

Just this evening Mike and I met with the Justice of the Peace we have chosen. He seems great and we're going to work with him on creating a ceremony that fits us.

From what I hear the bridesmaids' dresses are in, which is pretty great. I hope the girls are happy with them. We have to get the invitations printed out in the next week and you should receive them soon.

Then it's time to start with the final details like centerpieces, favors, and flower arrangements.

Charity Donations

I just wanted to update to let our guests know that thanks to the Wedding Channel and Macy's, a portion of any gifts purchased through our links at the weddingchannel.com (link to the right) will go towards the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, a charity that is close to our hearts.

We hope that, should you choose to get us a gift, you will consider going through our wedding channel website and help contribute to this cause.

Simply click on the link to the Wedding Channel registries on the right and search for our names. You will then find a link to both our Macy's registry and our Crate and Barrel registry. You must go through the wedding channel site in order for a charitable contribution to be made, going straight to either store will not qualify.

Again, this is something we thought would be a wonderful addition to any gift giving you may consider.

A lot has happened since we last posted!

The time is flying by and the plans are progressing. We recently had a great cake tasting at Veronica's Sweetcakes in Marshfield. They were great and we have made our order for a 3 tier cake--the almond cake was too good to pass up!

As well, I have ordered my dress from New York Lace in Taunton and they emailed me this weekend to let me know it arrived. It's by Maggie Sottero, a style called Aurora. I love it!

The bridesmaids and I have had a great time trying on dresses for them and we've decided on a pear green strapless design by Eden Bridals. The folks at Lillian's of Norwell were very helpful and we expect those dresses to be in sometime in September.

Next up we are looking into florists and DJs. We are planning on using the photographer that shot Kathleen's wedding, as I loved her photos.

Mike and I are brainstorming together about the decor and unifying our ideas with the color theme--green, chocolate and white. It's crisp and modern and so far everything has been a lot of fun.

The honeymoon is being booked as well, we'll be spending the week after the wedding relaxing in Disney World thanks to Mom and Dad Rapa.

I'm honestly getting really excited to see everyone gathered together again and to have a big party. So save that date and get excited!

The plans are moving along.

By Jen:

Well it seems the family has been spreading the word about our blog, so it's time for another post.

We've set a date and booked a site! The wedding will be Saturday, November 3rd at the Black Rock Country Club in Hingham MA. You can find the link to the right. Pictures are sparse, but the splash page shows a few shots of the function hall. Their representative was wonderful and I have great confidence that they will do a good job.

Details are not final but it looks like they will have the ceremony begin roughly 3:30PM with a cocktail hour following. After that we will have the reception. I like this location's layout, as the evening will flow nicely through the building from one end to the other.

Next up are sending out Save the Date cards and invitations. Mike and I are making them ourselves. We will go with a chocolate/olive/cream scheme and the paper will be bought at a great shop in town, Paper Source. They served us well through our art school days and they have good prices on stock.

So far we have registered at Crate and Barrel. Links to registry websites can be found to the right, they will likely be continuously updated. There was a slight snag when we set up the C&B registry (my mistake) and we now have two listed registries. One has nothing on it. Clearly, do not use this registry. Try the other one. I'm really sorry for that extra complication, but it seems C&B doesn't allow you to delete a registry with any ease. I'm going to keep trying though.

That's it for now!
